Chris "Wrong Way" Christie

by: huntsu

Fri Sep 04, 2009 at 10:11:14 PM EDT

Promoted by Jason: This could almost be a quote of the day. Christie drives the wrong way down a one way street, but says it's the fault of the guy on the motorcycle for hitting him.

Holy effing shit.  Chris Christie is totally unable -- just like any good Bush administration flunkie -- to take responsibility for himself.

Christie turned the wrong way on a one-way street back in 2002 and would up destroying a motorcycle, sending a man to a Trauma Level One hospital, and trashing his rental car.  And this is his response:

"First of all, the motorcycle hit me," Christie said Friday when asked about the accident after a campaign event in Atlantic City.

The motorcycle did hit him, sure, but only because of Christie's own misdeeds.  And the man seems unwilling to admit any error.

For three years we chronicled Mr. Christie's actions as the US Attorney, misusing his office with arrogance and disregard for propriety, but in none of that time did we ever see him so blatantly obtuse as to blame someone else who was following the law for getting injured because Christie broke the law.

Chris "Wrong Way" Christie for Governor!

UPDATE: Amazingly Gannett refuses to pick this story up.  If you go to http://www.mycentraljersey.com/ and search on Christie there's nothing but a bob Ingle column mocking these pieces.  Of course, three out of every four stories on the site are about minor or personal criminal acts from the police blotter, but potential misuse of federal power by a gubernatorial candidate is just plain ignored.  The liberal media at work.

Christie Sticks Foot Further In Mouth (0.00 / 0)
This needs to be diaried/blogged by all and everywhere and from every angle until it gets picked up and becomes a national story. (Which I believe will be the case before the week is out, this is just too rich.)

The new wrinkle (for me) is that "wrong way" Christie actually had the chutzpah to use a line like "the motorcycle hit me"!   LOL  That perverse absurdity alone should qualify him for Keith Olbermann's "worst person in the world" segment.

The Corzine camp seems trigger shy.   I guess they want to keep their powder dry for the last weeks of the campaign???   Not sure if that's such a smart strategy.

If it had emerged that Corzine had this kind of driving history, he would have been hounded from office and forced to resign in abject shame and humiliation by now.....Fux News and it's netwoks/denizens would be going 24/7 with these stories.

The fact is that Christie really IS an irresponsible, arrogant, lying, unethical asshole...and all of those adjectives can now be documented to the nth degree.

It's amazing how Republicans can simply make shit up and use it to "swiftboat" at the presidential level and WIN; yet Democrats can actually have the factual documented iron clad GOODS on a petty hack like Christie and they seem incapable or unwilling to nail him.

Huntsu, you've made an avocation of following/exposing Christie's shenanigans for years now.......and now all these new incidents emerge confirming all your (and mine) impressions.   The case against this man holding public office is overwhelming!

Someone with the technical skills should set up a web site specifically dedicated to getting the word out on Christie.

I just got a union mailing (0.00 / 0)
directing me to the "Real Chris Christie website.

Though I see googling the phrase in quotes Blue JErsey comes up higher. :)

I have to think of a witty signature about Frank LoBiondo

Was Christie Sued? (0.00 / 0)
Where's the lawsuit?  Aside from not getting ticketed, I can't imagine something like this happening and ambulance chasers not getting involved, especially since Christie has big bucks of his own and could easily afford a generous settlement.

Since the motorcyclist won't speak to the media I think he was paid to keep quiet.

I do think this story needs to be pursued.  I know officers have discretion, but were there any other incidents like this one where a ticket wasn't given out, especially where the other motorist was taken to the hospital?  If a lawsuit was filed shouldn't there  be a record of ikt somewhere?  What insurance companies were involved?  Were there any witnesses to the accident, the ambulance drivers, etc.?  How badly was the motorcyclist injured?  Lots of questions need to be answered and if the media won't do it then maybe Corzine's "opposition research" team needs to get going on this.

Christie was sued (0.00 / 0)
I saw an item on PolitickerNJ that says Christie was sued but was dismissed 3 months later.  Sounds like a payoff but the papers should still be on file at the courthouse detailing the charges.

Something to check out.

re update (4.00 / 1)
I checked the website. I believe the counties are Republican which explains the lack of coverage.  The editors don't want to alienate their base.  Also, would assume editorial page favors Christie.

Read this for a true comment on the liberal media.  They find one Democrat who is leaning toward voting for Christie and base a whole story on her.

I just wish Corzine would get out ads showing his accomplishments.  I sent an e-mail to his campaign site today asking them to.

People see this as meaningless (0.00 / 0)
The # 1 problem is property taxes .# 2 jobs #3 corruption  voters don't give a hoot about tickets ,e-mails ,or not wearing seat belts ...if it can't lower there tax bill it's not worth discussing ,if it can't get them a job it's not worth discussing .They just picked up 44 politations and that was dead in 2 days ,we have seen state senators go to jail ..it's all meaningless ...if corzine can keep his promise to lower property taxes 40% by november he'll win in a landslide ...otherwise keep talking about tickets and you'll see the same election results as the polls are telling us now .There is a reason why the polls haven't moved ...Cozrine campaign is based on CC tickets ,now that's sad !

not really (4.00 / 1)
First of all, Christie's campaign is based on being a moral corruption buster who is outside of the dirty Trenton insider game.

The misuse of his badge repeatedly to get out of tickets or get favors goes against that image.  As does the loan to a subordinate, and not paying taxes on the income.  It shows a Christie who is just another politician taking advantage of his position.

As for the Corzine campaign being all about tickets, that's a joke and a weak defense by the GOP.  Corzine has gone after Christie's desire to change health insurance mandates, his plan to gut the DEP to aid developers, his effort to fire state employees outside of the contract, etc.

The media is who is going after Christie's tickets, accidents and lying about it.  It isn't the Corzine campaign, which is just responding to questions when asked.

Of course, since Christie has still refused to release actual plans and policies, it's a little hard to run a campaign against his policies.  Christie is running as the white knight, and as the non-Corzine.

If Christie wants the campaign to be about issues other than his character, then he should release actual plans and programs.  Then it can be about issues.

But as long as Christie won't be honest about his plans, then it's all going to be about his failures as a person.

Op-ed on why Christie's tickets matter (0.00 / 0)
http://www.northjersey.com/new...

This does not mean voters should just forget about the whole thing. When someone drives almost 60 miles an hour through a small town, he is endangering not only himself and his passengers, but whoever happens to get in his way. It is something to think about as the election campaigns continue.

that actually misses the point (0.00 / 0)
it isn't even the reckless disregard for civilians - which of course is important.

It is about his abuse of power and office.  Plain and simple.

That's what op-ed is saying (0.00 / 0)
It is a metaphor.  Christie will do anything to get his own way.  The way he drives and the disregard indicates a) what he will do to win the election and b) what he will do when he governs.

I read the oped (0.00 / 0)
see my post on the front page here for my thoughts.

The OpEd doesn't go all the way there - but it should.
