| EMILY's List, America's largest grassroots political network and financial resource for women running for elective office just, minutes ago, endorsed Linda Stender who is running for Congress in the 7th Congressional District.
EMILY's List = Early Money Is Like Yeast. It raises the dough!
Hey, this is just HUGE news. Assemblywoman Stender is widely seen as New Jersey's best opportunity both to send a woman from here to Congress - and - the best opportunity to snatch a congressional seat in NJ from the Republicans.
Jump here.... or just do the happy dance like me |
| And you know why she got this endorsement? Well, two reasons. First off, she deserves it. More on that later. Secondly, as a practical matter, in order to attract the tremendous resources of EMILY's List, you have to do a great deal to attract their attention. And how do you do that? Your campaign has to create the big buzz that tends to develop around candidates who stand out as winners. That's a definite.
But you also have to hit a mighty-mighty financial threshhold in your campaign fundraising. The target Stender was shooting for, for the all-important March 31 First-Quarter federal filing, was $300,000 cash-on-hand. In fact, she met and then exceeded that in a sleepless last week that involved hundreds of people all over the state.
So, here's a big Woo Hoo! shout-out to all of you (you know who you are).
"Says Ellen R. Malcolm, president of EMILY's List: "EMILY's List considers this to be one of the most important races we are involved in and our membership will lend all its considerable strength to seeing that Linda Stender is victorious."
It couldn't happen to a better pro-choice, anti-Iraq War, education-oriented, pro-stem cell research candidate.
EMILY's List has more than 100,000 members, including more than 3,400 in New Jersey. It's the largest PAC in America, and has helped elect 61 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, plus 11 to the Senate and 8 more to governorships. In just 10 election cycles, EMILY's List has helped send hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state office and local office.
Woo Hoo!
