Blue Jersey has always been about citizen journalism - ordinary people reporting, analyzing, and offering their opinions on political news and events in the Garden State. You may have noticed that our coverage tends to be biased towards particular towns and counties, and it's no coincidence that they happen to be the places we live near and know best.
We'd like to widen Blue Jersey's news coverage, analysis and opinion by having 21 Blue Journalists serving as county correspondents. We understand that people have busy lives, so the responsibilities will be fairly flexible, but at a minimum, it would involve keeping an eye out for important news and events taking place in your area - in the papers and by word of mouth - and reporting on it in the diaries on Blue Jersey. For those are already politically active locally, this shouldn't be much extra work, and if you're looking to become more involved and informed, this could be the extra incentive you need.
We're going to keep a list of the Blue Journalists on the front page, noting the county they cover and a link to their diaries. The best material will be bumped up to the front page. We'll be keeping a close eye on the county correspondents and may permanently promote some to front page blogger status, so it's a great opportunity to be noticed and show what you can do.
If you're interested in covering a particular county, leave a comment below and send us an email at contact@bluejersey.net with the subject "Blue Journalist". Tell us a little about yourself like your familiarity with blogging (not a requirement, but good to have) and your level of involvement in/familiarity with local politics, if any.
Update: 3 down (Union, Middlesex & Morris Counties), 18 to go. |
