It's the Coverup, Stupid.

by: Juan Melli

Thu Sep 21, 2006 at 06:42:07 PM EDT

ABC 7 just ran the Astrogate story, and the AP and UPI are syndicating it, though they both have factual errors (strangely, both are about emails), which will hopefully be corrected soon.

This shouldn't have been a 2-day story....

Update: The AP article was corrected. It used to say that I alleged that the Kean campaign emailed me comments, which I never did. I received the email sent by Hazelbaker from a third party, not from Jill or anyone else in the campaign. The UPI article still says I said the "e-mail messages attacking Menendez claimed to be from "an ardent Democrat" and were sent under two names registered within 15 minutes of each other." Obviously, they confused emails with comments on the blog. Jill may keep talking about her not having emailed me to try to confuse the issue, but it's completely irrelevant.
Update 2: 88.1 FM (NJ public radio) had the story around 6 pm tonight.
Update 3: UPI corrected their story.

Self Inflicted wound (0.00 / 0)
They should have just said an overagressive staffer did it and it would have gone away.  Guess jill doesnt get that an IP address is sorta like a social security # for your internet connection.  You just can't make this shit up...

Will Jill (0.00 / 0)
deny being Linda Tripp's illegitimate daughter fathered by Karl Rove? Now close your eyes and imagine Linda Tripp buggering Karl Rove with a sex toy. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Now I need a drink.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

Great Headline Juan! (0.00 / 0)
That about sums it up.

As I said earlier, now the ball is in Junior's court.

If he actually uses all his power and authority as "the candidate" to truly unearth the whole truth; he has the potential to stop the bleeding (i.e. accept resignations and/or fire some people) and move on with a political wound.

If, on the other hand, Junior takes a page out of the Nixon book of political wizdum and wizzdummer; then he should circle the wagons and continue to build a stone wall of denial around this whole mess.

What should have been a minor blip has now become a major embarrasment...and if Junior plays it wrong he goes down the drain all together because of "loyalty" to a few idiots clumsily imitating Karl Rove.

Memo to Junior: Dump Jill-baby! (1.00 / 2)
Junior, since you claim to run a campaign on ethics, you need to dump Jill-baby, your bimbo press spokesperson.  Not for what she did, that's politics, but for being the lying sack of crap she is and claiming the IP address wasn't at your HQ, Kean central.  And, for insulting our Juan and somehow questioning his integrity -- who by the way, is as honest as they come.  So Junior -- dump the idiot piece of sleeze.  You also owe Juan an apology!  Otherwise you are just as sleezey as the rest of your right wing looney party.  Be a man for once.

I don't think bimbo is appropriate (4.00 / 1)
Ignorant, incompetent, idiotic, perhaps.  But bimbo seems pretty sexist.

What the hell is this? (4.00 / 1)
At a news conference in Bergen County, surrounded by more than 20 Democrats who said they will vote for Kean, the candidate said "a sure sign of a failing campaign is when they stop attacking me and start attacking my staff."

The Menendez campaign owns Blue Jersey?  Give me a break.  Go back and read the diaries and comments from when it was still up in the air who would be nominated by Corzine to fill his seat.

If Kean can't tell the difference between a blog and a campaign he is dumber than advertized.

from Meriam-Webster (1.00 / 2)
1 slang : MAN, WOMAN -- used as a generalized term of disapproval especially for an attractive but vacuous person

So could be either sex.  in fact, based upon above, it could be Junior as well.

Though in a post-Seinfeld world... (0.00 / 0)
...I believe the accepted term for a male bimbo would be "mimbo."

use Websters all you like (0.00 / 0)
If you can't see the underlying sexism in the attacks, including yours (you refer to her as jill-baby?) on Kean's press secretary, then Websters isn't going to help.

Thanks, huntsu.

I'll also publicly register my objection to burning the 'witch' comment about Diane Legreide.

It wouldn't rankle as much, or perhaps not at all, if there were parity in the Dem party.

okay -- point taken (0.00 / 0)
oookay (although baby can also be used in a male context as well) -- but kudos to those who want to change "waitresses" and "waitors" to "waitrons".  the bigger point is that Hazelfaker is deceitful.  more importantly, it shows the Kean campaign has nothing else better to do than monitor a website that until NOW, has not had statewide viewership.  congrats bluejersey!  so in that regard, thank you press-PERSON for Kean, J. Hazelfaker. As for the ED of the Dems, I like Diane and never referred to her in any ill manner or sexist manner whatsoever.  I do find Cher drag boring however, and would have preferred Eminen or Janet Jackson.

Server (0.00 / 0)
The term "server" is now in common use in restaurants.

In the world of IT... (0.00 / 0)
That word is starting to gain a bit of usage as well.

Surprising. Yes, I know. ;-)

The nom de plume has a long and distinguished history.
