Where's Mike? We Know This Weekend!

by: blue7thpac

Sat Nov 04, 2006 at 09:31:51 AM EST

After six years of hiding and jiving, Mike Ferguson is finally sending out a public schedule of where he's going to be.  AND YOU CAN BE THERE TOO!

We have his bus schedule for through election day, and it is extensive since he is afraid he might lose his seat.  But you can show him -- just like in this video from the debate! -- that the voters are just not with him.

PLEASE GET PICTURES OF THE RALLIES.  Especially the ones with sparse attendance.  Send them to nathanrudy@gmail.com and we'll post the best ones.  Cell phone pictures are fine.  Video of his talks is good, too, especially when he is lying.

The full schedule is after the jump. When we can find them, we've provided links to Google Maps.  Sometimes the maps aren't perfectly accurate and you'll have to drive up and down the street to find the "rally".

Please don't protest the event in Westfield (0.00 / 0)
The Torah Center is an Orthodox synagogue and while the Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist movements of Judaism are all very different, today is the Sabbath, and it would offend many Jews, no matter what sect they are in, to read about protests outside of a synagogue, especially if there was even one anti-Israel sign amongst them and it would reflect poorly on Linda Stender's campaign.

Please skip that one and hit the others as hard as possible.

Torah Center Political Rally (0.00 / 0)
Why is the Synagogue allowing a political rally on Shabat? Apparently they are not offended by Ferguson's political appearance on Shabat. Maybe he's going there to read the Torah?

OK with skipping it ... (0.00 / 0)
But how do you explain them being happy to host a political candidate but not to have the other side represented?

[ Parent ]
That's a very good question... (0.00 / 0)
and one that should be asked of the synagogue's rabbi and President who may be knowingly and willfully putting their synagogue's tax-exempt status at risk.

If the synagogue is actually hosting the event and has not offered to host Linda Stender at a similar event, then they are definitely in some very questionable territory.

However, if Ferguson is simply visiting the synagogue during its Oneg Shabbat (food served after Friday evening and Saturday morning services) as anybody, including candidates for public office, are free to do, then the synagogue has done nothing wrong.

When I presented the Stender campaign with a Jewish outreach plan that I had prepared, an integral part of it was visiting Reform and Conservative synagogues throughout the district on Friday nights and informally speaking to the congregants in attendance on those evenings.

Considering the fact that only 25% of the Jewish community generally votes Republican and the Orthodox community makes up about 80% of that 25%, it is smart for Ferguson to go where the votes are with the Torah Center being one of very few Orthodox synagogues in the district (off the top of my head, it might be the only one).

For the synagogue's sake, I hope that this event was not something that will get them in trouble somewhere down the road.
