| Apparently, Javier Inclan has no deal with federal prosecutors to shield him from the guilt his testimony in federal court place upon him. That just makes him stupid. Or maybe not.
There is no indication that the federal attorney will be filing charges against Inclan. There hasn't been a peep from Ann Milgram about the case. Inclan is still employed as deputy Chief of Staff for the Governor. From where I sit, that makes it look like he has not only escaped from any punishment of his actions, but is actually reaping the ongoing rewards for obeying the Jersey omerta.
As Wally Edge noted yesterday, Jon Corzine promised that he would not tolerate anyone in his administration who would place "private interests over the public good." Hey, you got us, Jon. We actually believed you.
There are only two actions for Jon Corzine to take: Fire Javier Inclan and prove that he meant what he said; or retain the criminally complicit and show by his actions that the Governor lied through his teeth. There is no middle ground here. Inclan has testified that he knew criminal acts were transpiring yet he did nothing about it. It was his legal fiduciary responsibility to report fiscal wrongdoing in the Guttenberg Democrats and he willfully chose not to fulfill that obligation.
Javier Inclan has proven beyond a doubt that he is unfit for any office. Whether or not Jon Corzine is unfit as well could rest upon his actions towards Inclan. Tolerance of corruption is not a value progressive voters support. If the vise-grip of corruption on the Garden State is ever going to be broken; then blind loyalty to political allies has to be replaced with blind loyalty to the law.
Javier Inclan can't be trusted. He has to be fired. If Chris Christie won't file charges; then Ann Milgram must. It's time for the talk to be backed up by actions. Either Jon Corzine or Ann Milgram should act.
Or both. |
