Be careful what you wish for (0.00 / 0)
Because if the Donovan/Ranall wing takes control of the Bergen GOP, they're going to be a lot more competitive come election day.  There are a lot of Democrats and independents who are not at all happy with the way the Bergen Democratic leadership is running things.

Randall probably would have gone down in November anyway. (0.00 / 0)
And Donovan's not nearly as scary a candidate as she seems.  Her ticket has made a grevious error in how they've gone about entering the race.  She'll be off the line, which hurts her ticket, and she's ticked off Lonegan and the conservative wing.  And that's the wing that comes out heavily in primaries, and that's the group that'll stay home on Election Day if Donovan and Randall manage to somehow survive.

The correct solution for Randall would have been to play ball with Talarico and Caliguire and to put for the unity ticket they had planned.  At least then, the conservatives would vote for her.  Whoever emerges from the Republican primary will do so bruised, and the Bergen Dems are going to pile on the winner in the general.

(I actually hope Donovan wins because I think she's the easier candidate to beat.  McNerney hasn't made any particularly bad decisions during his tenure, while Donovan comes with baggage.)
